of the key issues of 21st Century. This is confirmed by the
increased attention paid by global agencies, governments, media, academia and
the industries. Malaysia has embarked upon the new Economic Transformation Plan
(ETP), wherein inclusiveness and sustainability are the basic pillars of Vision
2020.
Sustainable development ultimately means
sustainable business. The stakeholders of business like consumers, investors
have started expecting sustainability based accountability from business and
government services. The customers are asking question on components of the
product. Global institutions, especially banks are concerned about the waste
disposal or what happens when the product is not in use. Investors are asking
how the raw materials were extracted. Governments are imposing tax. As a consequence, policy makers, industry leaders,
society and academics with different backgrounds are today trying to understand
how sustainability affects traditional way of doing business, and, as well, how
